Yeah, I know the titles have been corny lately. Anyway, I don't even know what to say about this tomfoolery. Rev. Al jumped in, which I'm not sure helps, and the Post issued a statement saying the point it was trying to make with the cartoon, was playing off Monday's rampage by a pet chimpanzee in Stamford, Conn., that left a woman severely mauled. Police ended up killing the chimp. Word? Full article underneath.

Aight... I'm torn on this... on the one hand, I'm definitely not feeling the whole "it wasn't about Obama" excuse they are claiming at the post. On the other hand, who the fkcuk cares. I mean seriously just because there's a man of color in the white house doesn't change the fact that by and large "the establishment" still has major race issues. Having said that, black people gotta accept that racism will always be here in America in some shape or form don't allow those people and their actions to control you in any way. Getting upset about this is silly... get upset about the police continuously harassing brothers and sisters because they can, or get upset that minority missing children don't get the same attention as their caucasian counterparts. Get upset about police brutality and abuse of powers in our communities... Or the fact that the war on drugs directly targets minorities instead of law breakers in general.... How about this... get upset with our own inability as a community to rise above this nonsense. As long as we allow them to drag us back to their level we can never make the advancements that we continue to fight for. Much has been done, yes and I'm greatful for that, but there is still much left to do. Too much to let some little cartoon upset me... Fact is I worry everyday that someone is going to take this picture and try to make it a reality for the president... so this picture doesn't surprise or upset me, its just they're way of trying to control by inciting anger when there is overwhelming love, joy, and elation. I for one refuse to allow them to have that kind of control and I hope and implore my brothers and sisters to do the same.

YO! I cant believe I missed this cartoon. I agree with Forth on all aspects on this one. If it wasnt a joke about the stimulus bill it would be a joke about another prominent or popular African American figure. Its clear that a key point of the cartoon is to compare blacks to chimps. But you gotta see the humor or the truth in the cartoon. I saw it as less of a joke on Obama or blacks but more so a joke on the police officer's bad judgment in situations involving minorities. So I feel it is less of a "black people are monkeys" joke than it is a "all cops think black people are monkeys" joke. And all jokes about cops are funny to me.
